On the
second week of the Kent County Championships at
Canterbury, Dovers swimmers gave a admirable
performance, seeing Adam Knight and Craig Simmons in the
400m Freestyle gain 1st Senior and 1st Junior placings,
with Adam Patterson taking 2nd 16 year old placing for
the Dover club. Gareth Steed one of Dovers Senior
swimmers finished 4th in the Open 50m Freestyle, and 5th
Senior in the 100m
Breaststroke. A very deserving swim by Mathew Basford saw
him finish the 50m Freestyle as 3rd 11 year old boy.
On completion of the first weeks swimming, Dover
Lifeguard clubs Men/Boys were in first place in the
points total. The Ladies/Girls completed the first weeks
swimming seeing them in 3rd place on the points table.
Some worthy placings for the girls added further points
to the girls total this week. In the 50m Backstroke
Sophie Braithwaite was 2nd Junior, Kate Mansfield 3rd 15
year old, Victoria Bates 2nd 13 year old and Holly Croft
6th 14 year old. In the 100m Butterfly, Katie Whitnall
was 3rd Junior, 2nd 16 year old, Sophie Braithwaite 3rd
16 year old and Kaira Redman 6th 17/18 year old. The 200m
Freestyle saw Katie Whitnall 2nd 16 year old followed by
Sophie Mitchinson who took 3rd 16 year old and Kaira
Redman was 4th 17/18 year old. Two of the younger girls
were Victoria Bates 3rd 13year old and Kayleigh Stevenson
5th 14 year old.
Some of the other Dover swimmers did well, gaining
valuable points for this weeks totals. Lauren Wraight,
Laura Basford, Sarah Hill, Liam Steer , Nakai Redman,
Anna Jeffery, Mark Simmons and brothers James and Lewis
Bradley all did their best on the day.
