DOVER LIFE GUARD CLUB - POLAR BEAR DIP 2000
| A cold Boxing Day on Dover
beach greeted us for this years Polar Dip. This year saw
sixty-five brave hearts take the plunge watched by a
decent gathering of supporters and relatives. The extreme
cold meant that numbers were slightly down on the
previous year but the continued support for the event is
always good. With the added chill factor and biting wind
it meant many went in momentarily with only the die-hards
staying in for any length of time to achieve their
"colours". Two "dip" stalwarts again
this year were Duncan Gill and Jeff Williams who have
amassed an impressive fifty-five dips between them. We
also had eighteen newcomers this year. All "dippers" will this year receive a commemorative 2000 blue and yellow badge along with a 2000 year "strip" whilst newcomers will receive their first badges and strips. Thanks are conveyed by all who helped the dip run smoothly in the absence of the long distance secretary who had a slight problem with his car !
