Swimming
The
club supports a number of swimming activities, however the competitive
age group swimmers far out way any of the other activities.
Competitive Swimming
The
Dover Lifeguard Club has a strong competitive team of swimmers, ranging
form the Junior 10 years and under, through to our few 16 year olds and
above. The squads train very hard every day of the week except Sundays and
have sessions in the early morning for over an hour and most evenings. The sessions are run by our Coaches, Teachers and some Parent,
all lead by the DLGC Head Coach.
Our squad training sessions run each
morning and afternoon at the Dover Sports Complex and have enabled many of our
swimmers to achieve new PB's at competitions attended. Some of these
swimmers have gone on to gain Kent, South East Region and National
qualifying times. The commitment of our coaches, teachers and helpers to
the swimmers and club is much appreciated by all those involved.
Work with the
younger up and coming swimmers to develop their strokes for competition,
is also an area which the coaches and teacher concentrate time. A number
of these swimmers go on to achieve entry times for the East Invicta
competition each year.
The
club does have a small band of committed people that help with the
coaching. These people range from Parents of the swimmers to
others that have themselves been swimmers in the past. Although
there are too many people to name individually here, the club and
swimmers do appreciate everyone's commitment to the sport.
