Dover Life Guard Club at the First two East Invicta Championships (Photo's)
Dover Lifeguard Club has achieved first-class results during the first two of four East Invicta Championships so far this year. This week was the second of four competitions, which saw Dover in first place in the points totals for the Men & Boys and Ladies & Girls championship categories. Dover are only one point behind Thanet V in the Relays. Well Done so far!!
Gareth Steed and Adam Knight have achieved good quality results in the Mens Open events. Gareth in the 100m Butterfly came second, third in the 100m Freestyle, second in the 200m Butterfly and second in the 200m Breaststroke. Adam in the same events, came third in the 100m Fly and first in the other Mens events listed. Adam also broke the East Invicta record in the 100m Backstroke, taking the record by half a second.
Katie Whitnall and Sophie Braithwaite swum in a number of Ladies Open events gaining junior and senior placings. Katie gained a National Age Group qualifying time in the 200m Butterfly, which gave her another first place. Sophie best being the first place in the senior 100m Fly.
Craig Simmons swimming in the Mens Open events as a junior has gained 3 first places, as well as some senior placings. In the age group events Craig came first in the 200m Freestyle and broke the East Invicta record. He also took first place in the 15/16 yrs 100m Fly, 200m Fly and 100m Freestyle.
Four of Dovers 16 year old boys also broke the 4x50m Freestyle relay record.
A first for Adam Patterson was going under the minute in the 100m Freestyle event. Adam has also swum in the Mens Open events, also gaining junior placings, including first junior in the Mens 200 Backstroke. In the 10-16 Freestyle event Adam came third, second in the 15/16 yrs 100m Fly and second in the 200m Fly.
Kate Mansfield gained Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, amongst other placings in her events. Victoria Bates was first 13 year old in the 200m Individual Medley, the 200m Freestyle and the 200m Fly. Kayleigh Stevenson did particularly well in Ladies Open 200m and 100m Breaststroke events. Two other girls worthy of mention were, Anna Jeffery for her third junior placing in the 200m Breaststroke and Sophie Mitchinson, who came fourth in the backstroke event.
Many of Dovers younger swimmers achieved good placings, helping to push up the lead against the other teams. Liam Steer, Alistair Walker, Matthew Basford, James Bradley. Lewis Bradley and Drew Mannering are a few from the team achieving placings in the Boys team. From the Girls team, Caroline Bradley, Abby Tyler, Kaira Redman, Ashleigh Stevenson, Chloe McFarnell, Lauren Wraight and Sarah Hill all achieved good times in their own events.
